Why You'll Love It
If there's one thing I love, it's finding a ridiculously easy way to make something that tastes like you spent all morning in the kitchen. And these King's Hawaiian cinnamon rolls are exactly that!
I've been a huge fan of using King's Hawaiian rolls for quick and easy recipes for years.. just look how many recipes I've made with them! They're soft, fluffy, slightly sweet, and honestly one of my favorite shortcuts when I want something delicious without a ton of effort. But when I saw their Maple Brown Sugar Rolls, my brain immediately went to cinnamon rolls. And since we're officially in pumpkin season, adding a thick layer of pumpkin butter just made sense.
Unlike traditional cinnamon rolls, there's no yeasted dough, rolling pin, kneading, or rising time involved. We're basically taking the best parts of a classic cinnamon roll and turning them into something you can make in about 30 minutes. The sweet Hawaiian rolls already have that pillowy soft texture, so all we need is a buttery brown sugar mixture, a little cinnamon, and a generous layer of homemade cream cheese frosting.
And the best part? The bottoms get caramelized and buttery while the tops turn golden brown and slightly crispy. Meanwhile, the pumpkin butter tucked inside adds the most delicious fall flavor.
These easy cinnamon rolls are perfect for weekend breakfast, holiday mornings, Christmas morning, Easter brunch, or even a random weekday morning when you want to make breakfast feel a little special. They're also a great way to feed a larger crowd at a family gathering without spending hours making homemade cinnamon rolls. Seriously, if you love easy breakfast recipes that look and taste way more complicated than they actually are, this one's for you.

Ingredients & Substitutions
Here's everything you'll need to make this Hawaiian roll cinnamon rolls recipe. The ingredients are super simple, and you probably already have most of them in your kitchen!
- KING'S HAWAIIAN® Maple Brown Sugar Rolls: These hawaiian sweet rolls are the star of the show! Their soft texture and maple brown sugar flavor make them perfect for this cinnamon roll recipe. If you can't find them, regular King's Hawaiian Original Sweet Rolls or other sweet Hawaiian dinner rolls work great, too.
- Pumpkin Butter: Adds a sweet, spiced pumpkin filling that makes these cinnamon rolls extra cozy. Store-bought works perfectly, but homemade is great, too. Apple butter is another delicious option!
- Salted Butter: Softened butter creates that rich, buttery cinnamon sugar topping. I prefer salted butter to balance the sweetness, but unsalted butter works with a pinch of salt.
- Brown Sugar: Gives the cinnamon butter its signature caramel flavor. Light or dark brown sugar both work beautifully.
- Ground Cinnamon: You can't have cinnamon rolls without cinnamon! Pumpkin pie spice is another fun option if you want even more fall flavor.
- Vanilla Extract: Adds warmth and depth to the cinnamon sugar mixture. Vanilla bean paste works, too!
For the Cream Cheese Icing
- Cream Cheese: The base of our luscious cream cheese frosting! Make sure it's softened to room temperature so the icing turns out silky smooth.
- Salted Butter: Adds richness and helps create that fluffy, spreadable frosting. Make sure it's softened, not melted.
- Powdered Sugar: Sweetens and thickens the frosting. Add a splash of milk or heavy cream if you prefer a thinner consistency.

How to Make Hawaiian Roll Cinnamon Rolls
Making homemade cinnamon rolls from scratch is great and all, but sometimes you just want the gooey, cinnamon-sugary goodness without all the extra work! These shortcut cinnamon rolls come together in about 30 minutes with no kneading, rolling pin, or rising time required.
- Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F and grab a baking dish large enough to fit the entire package of King's Hawaiian rolls.
- Fill the Rolls: Using a serrated knife, slice the entire package of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally, keeping the individual rolls connected. Spread the pumpkin butter evenly over the bottom half of the rolls, then place the top half back on.
- Make the Cinnamon Butter: In a small bowl, combine the softened salted butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla extract. Stir until everything is combined into a thick, spreadable brown sugar mixture.
- Assemble the Cinnamon Rolls: Spread about one-third of the cinnamon butter mixture across the bottom of your baking dish. Place the filled Hawaiian rolls on top. Spread the remaining cinnamon butter mixture evenly over the tops of the rolls.
- Bake Until Golden Brown: Transfer the baking dish to your preheated oven and bake for about 20 minutes, or until the rolls are golden brown and slightly crispy around the edges. If the tops brown too quickly, loosely cover with aluminum foil.
- Make the Cream Cheese Frosting: While the rolls bake, add the softened cream cheese, softened salted butter, and powdered sugar to a mixing bowl. Using a hand mixer, beat for 2-3 minutes until smooth, fluffy, and creamy. If needed, add a tiny splash of heavy cream or milk to reach your desired consistency.
- Serve: Remove the cinnamon rolls from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Slather the luscious cream cheese frosting over the warm rolls, letting it melt into all those buttery cinnamon sugar crevices. Pull apart the individual rolls and serve immediately!
- Save: Store leftover cinnamon rolls in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days. Reheat individual rolls in the microwave for 10-20 seconds until warm and soft. You can also assemble the rolls ahead of time, cover tightly with plastic wrap, and refrigerate overnight before baking.
