What are Buffalo Chicken Sliders?
These Cheesy Buffalo Chicken Sliders are the ultimate game-day or party appetizer.
Each flavorful slider effortlessly marries the fiery zest of buffalo chicken with the irresistible melt of cheese, all snugly packed between soft hawaiian slider buns.
Unlike most of the finger food recipes like this, we're flipping the hawaiian buns inside out and treating them like they're mini grilled cheese sandwiches.
Since there's not a lot of texture to the dip itself, this is a great way to add crunch and flavor.
And since I'm all about making life both delicious and easy, I recommend using my crockpot buffalo chicken dip recipe as the base of this recipe.
But I also understand that sometimes you don't have enough time to prep the slow cooker recipe.
In this case, I recommend buying Trader Joe's, Publix or another one of your favorite store-bought buffalo dips.
On this blog, there is no shame in grabbing store-bought buffalo dip to cut down on prep time.
After all, the goal is to revel in the cheesy, spicy goodness of these sliders with as little fuss as possible.
So whether you're whipping them up for a cozy family gathering or a full-blown super bowl party crowd, these Buffalo Sliders are always a touchdown.
Ingredients and Substitutions
- Salted Butter - Olive oil or unsalted butter also works, just add an extra pinch of salt to make up for it.
- Kings Hawaiian Rolls - If you don't like sweet and spicy, try swapping out King's Hawaiian Sweet Rolls for this Savory Butter Rolls. Or try pretzel buns, pre-cooked yeast rolls, soft dinner rolls, mini potato rolls, or another one of your favorite bun recipes.
- Ranch Dressing - I'm using store-bought ranch dressing because I always have it on hand but you could definitely use homemade if you're up for it. You could also use Blue Cheese if you prefer.
- Colby Jack Cheese - You could also use a regular, sharp or white cheddar, muenster cheese, havarti, mozzarella, provolone or another meltable cheese of your choice.
- Crockpot Buffalo Chicken Dip - As I mentioned above, I highly recommend my crockpot buffalo chicken dip recipe but if you don't have time to cook it, you can grab a 16 oz container from the store.
- Chives - Totally optional but these add some color to the buns.
- Garlic Salt - You can use a mix of garlic powder and kosher salt if you don't have garlic salt. Or, you could use your favorite all purpose seasoning.
How to make Buffalo Chicken Sliders
Making Buffalo Sliders is super easy!
Do the Prep Work: Decide if you're making the buffalo chicken dip from scratch or buy it from the store. Once you're ready, preheat oven to 375F degrees.
Prep the Rolls: Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half and smear the interior sides with butter. Place the buttered bottom half of the buns, butter side down onto a metal baking sheet.
Build the Sandwich: Next, add the ranch dressing and smear it evenly across the bottom buns. Top with half the sliced Colby jack cheese, all of the buffalo dip, and chives before adding the rest of the cheese.
Prep the Crispy Crust: Place the top buns upside down so the buttery exterior is on the top. Then sprinkle with garlic salt.
How long to Bake Buffalo Chicken Sliders: Place in the oven and bake for 20 minutes or until the tops are golden and crispy and the cheese has all melted.
Serve the Sliders: Remove from heat and let sit for 5 minutes before serving.
