What is Fried Pickle Dip with White Cheddar
Fried Pickle Dip with White Cheddar is by far one of the most popular dips out there right now.
It effortlessly marries the tangy crunch of fried pickles with the creamy, rich depth of white cheddar dip.
Because of this, it's an easy appetizer that stands out for its bold flavors and no-cook convenience.
All you need to do is combine all the ingredients in a bowl and mix. Let the mixture set up in the fridge, or cadillac as my family says, for at least 30 minutes.
On top, you'll a crunchy flavorful crispy coating that's reminiscent to the outside of a fried pickle.
One word of advice, since pickles are the main ingredient, you'll want to make sure that you use high quality fresh pickles.
I recommend going for Grillos, Bubbies, or even Clausen.
Oh, and this post was originally part of a sponsored instagram reel from Duke's Mayo, but it was so popular that I figured it belonged on the site!
Ingredients and Substitutions
For the Dip
- Mayo - Duke's mayo is best in this recipe but if you are not a mayo fan, feel free to swap it for sour cream.
- Cream Cheese - Cream cheese adds great tang and texture to the dip. If you don't like cream cheese, you can try another creamy cheese like mascarpone or ricotta although I do not recommend it.
- Dill Pickles & their juice - High quality dill pickles, like Grillo's, Clausen, or Bubbie's, work best for this recipe, I do not recommend choosing a low quality pickle as it's the main flavor in the dip.
- White Cheddar - If you're not a fan of white cheddar, you can either leave it out or use pepperjack, havarti, fontina, or another creamy shreddable cheese.
- Garlic - Fresh garlic is best but you could use the preminced jarred variety if you need to.
- Fresh Dill - Fresh is best but dried dill also works if that's all you have.
- Chives - You could skip chives and add scallions if you want to.
- Garlic Powder - Garlic powder is optional but does add even more flavor. Feel free to leave it out if you don't like it.
- Onion Powder - Onion powder is optional but does add even more flavor. Feel free to leave it out if you don't like it.
- Kosher salt - I always recommend Kosher Salt because it adds flavor rather than saltiness. If you're using another type of salt, it might taste too salty with the amount I recommend.
For the topping
- Salted Butter - Unsalted butter also works just be sure to add an extra pinch of salt if so.
- Seasoned Panko - Breadcrumbs also works. However, if you're using unseasoned panko or breadcrumbs, just add a dash of your favorite all purpose seasoning.
