This 4 ingredient sausage and boursin cheese pasta recipe is one of my favorite quick and easy weeknight dinners. All you need is garlic and herb boursin cheese, a jar of tomato basil sauce, a pound of italian sausage and a pound of pasta.
Why You'll Love it
This 4 ingredient sausage and boursin cheese pasta recipe will blow your mind!
Even though it's made with only 4 simple ingredients, the results are HUGE! It somehow tastes just like a fancy bolognese that took hours to prepare.
I got the idea to make this pasta recipe after tasting my friend Kait's appetizer that she made with boursin cheese and tomato sauce.
Kait served this cheesy tomato sauce with focaccia bread and even though it was so simple, everyone was losing their mind over it!
I immediately thought how delicious it would be served over pasta. And then my husband recommended adding sausage to it.
The results were insane and I love how it turned out.
If you need a quick and easy pasta recipe that's also super impressive, I urge you to give it a try! It's so good!
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Boursin Garlic & Herb Cheese: You can use another flavor of Boursin Cheese but this one is the best for this easy pasta recipe. If you're using another flavor, try using one of the savory Boursin Cheeses like - rosemary & black garlic, shallot & chive, basil & chive, black pepper or caramelized onions & herbs.
- Tomato Basil Sauce: You can use your favorite store bought 24oz jar of tomato basil pasta sauce. My favorite brands to use are Carbone or Raos. You could also use marinara, vodka sauce, or another type of tomato sauce you might have sitting around in your cabinets.
- Italian Sausage: I always use a log of Jimmy Dean Italian Sausage but you could use spicy sausage, fennel sausage, or another one of your favorite crumbled sausages. If you don't eat sausage, you can leave it out. This dish is just as delicious if it's made vegetarian!
- Pasta: My favorite pasta shape to serve with this 4 ingredient pasta recipe is mezze rigatoni. You could use whatever pasta shape you like though. I recommend penne, bowties, angle hair, bucatini, or even shells.
How to make 4 ingredient Pasta
Making this 4 ingredient pasta is super easy! It's the perfect easy pasta recipe when you don't have a lot of time but still want something super flavorful.
Boil Pasta: To begin, get a pot of salted water boiling for your pasta. Once boiling, add pasta and cook the pasta al dente as specified on the box. Once it's done, strain the pasta but reserve a cup of pasta water for later.
Cook Sausage: Meanwhile, add sausage to a large pan or braiser heated over medium-high heat. Use a spatula or meat masher to break the sausage up into tiny crumbles.
Add Cheese & Sauce: Once the sausage is cooked through, it's time to add the boursin cheese and the tomato sauce. Turn the heat down to medium and stir the sauce mixture.
Add Cooked Pasta: Once melted, add in the al dente pasta and stir to combine. Once all the pasta is coated in the sauce, add half a cup of the reserved pasta water and toss once more.
Season & Serve: Taste and season with salt and pepper if needed before serving. Optional, but you can also serve with parmesan cheese if you wish.
