What is Baja Chipotle Sauce
Baja Chipotle Sauce is a smokey, spicy, creamy sauce that is out of control delicious.
It was originally inspired by Subway but of course, much better because we're making it from scratch!
Think of a creamy blend of smoky chipotle peppers, tangy lime, a hint of garlic, and the right touch of saltiness.
This sauce is your go-to drizzle for those crispy fish tacos, hearty taco salads, and gourmet sandwiches.
This velvety concoction will transform any meal into a memorable one.

- Sour Cream - If you would prefer something healthier, try greek yogurt! It's still just as delicious.
- Chipotle Pepper in Adobo - The little canned chipotle peppers that are swimming in adobo sauce are perfect for this recipe. If you can't find them, you could also use chipotle pepper paste but you'll want to test how spicy it is first.
- Lime - Fresh squeezed limes give the best flavor but you could use lemon if you were in a pinch.
- Garlic clove - Again with the fresh is best thing! You could use shelf stable garlic too but it won't be the same.

Frequently asked questions
What kind of sauce is Baja Chipotle?
Baja Chipotle sauce is a smoky and tangy blend of chipotle peppers, zesty lime, and creamy elements, bringing a beachy warmth that's perfect for jazzing up any dish.
Is Baja chipotle sauce the same as chipotle mayo?
While both Baja chipotle sauce and chipotle mayo pack a smoky punch, they're not exactly the same; Baja chipotle sauce tends to have a tangier profile with more complex flavors, whereas chipotle mayo is creamy with a direct kick of chipotle heat.
How spicy is Baja Chipotle?
However spicy you want to make it! I always start by adding 1 chipotle to the sauce... then I taste it and adjust if I want it spicier. I tend to leave it on the mild side since I have little kids who like it better that way.
