These broccoli cheese crescent roll bagels are such a fun treat. They're super easy to cook and they taste amazing!
Why You'll Love this Recipe
I like to call these broccoli cheese crescent roll bagels - CRAGELS!
If you’re anything like me, you know that there’s something truly magical about melding gooey cheese and flaky dough into one glorious bite. And trust me, these bagels are nothing short of magical!
Crescent roll dough is the ultimate shortcut for crafting delicious, homemade treats without the fuss of traditional baking. It’s soft, pliable, and ready to transform into whatever your cheesy heart desires. Combine that with a filling of sharp cheddar and tangy cream cheese, and you’ve got a flavor explosion that’s both rich and satisfying.
But wait, there’s more! These bagels aren’t just about the cheese – they’ve got a hidden veggie bonus too. Tender bites of broccoli are folded right into the cheesy mix with a tad bit of garlic salt, giving you a hint of freshness and a pop of color. It’s a delicious way to sneak in some greens without sacrificing any indulgent flavor.
And let’s not forget about the texture. Imagine the crisp, golden exterior of crescent dough giving way to a soft, cheesy center that’s perfectly warm and gooey. Every bite is a delightful contrast of textures and flavors that will keep you coming back for more.
So, if you’re ready to indulge in a snack that’s quick to make, easy to love, and packed with cheesy goodness, these cheesy broccoli stuffed bagels are your new go-to. Trust me, once you try them, you’ll be hooked!
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Cream Cheese: If you're not into cream cheese, you could use goat cheese or bousin cheese.
- Leftover Cooked Broccoli: Feel free to get creative with your fillings! If you don't really like broccoli, swap it out for spinach, roasted red peppers or even some sun dried tomatoes. If you want another variation of this easy recipe, try my bacon scallion cream cheese cragel bagels.
- Sharp Cheddar Cheese: Same goes with cheese - if you prefer something different, go for it! I love how sharp cheddar gives you the traditional broccoli cheese flavor. However, you could use asiago, mozzarella, colby jack cheese, pepper jack cheese, or another one of your favorite easy melting cheeses.
- Crescent Roll Dough Sheet: You could also use the traditional crescent rolls but you'll need to make sure that the perforations are sealed so that filling doesn't ooze out while cooking.
- Egg White: This just adds crispiness and color to the crust. It's not 100% necessary but it does make a difference!
- Garlic Salt: If you don't have garlic salt, you could use garlic powder and a pinch of kosher salt. Or go ahead and use your favorite all purpose seasoning blend.
Step by Step Instructions
Preheat Oven: Preheat oven to 375F degrees.
Create Filling: Add cream cheese, cooked broccoli, shredded cheddar and half of the garlic salt to a bowl and stir.
Prepare Crescent Roll Dough: Unroll crescent rolls and divide/cut into 4 pieces. NOTE: If you’re using crescent roll dough and not a sheet, use your fingers to smooth out any holes so that each one is smooth and doesn’t have any perferations on it.
Stuff Cragels: Add ¼ of the cream cheese to the long side (kind of like a hot dog shape) and roll them like cigars - pinching the ends shut.
Form them into Bagels: Wrap them into bagel-like circles and place on a lined or sprayed baking sheet.
Top the Broccoli Cheese Cragels: Brush the top of each one with a little bit of beaten egg and then sprinkle evenly with the remaining cheese and the remaining garlic salt.
Bake: Bake in the oven for 15 minutes or until the dough is cooked through and cheese is golden brown.
Serve or Save: Once they're done cooking, remove them from the heat and let rest for 3-5 minutes. Serve them hot or at room temperature. Place any leftovers in an airtight container and keep in the fridge for up to 4 days.

They look simply delicious. I will definitely make them this weekend.

These look so good, and I can't wait to make them. These would be good appetizers for the girls group I have and they, like me, are always concerned about calories. Do you happen to have the calorie count? I'd love to know how many calories they contain.

I'm sorry I don't do calorie counting - it's bad for my mental health. You can definitely plug it into a calorie calculating website to generate that info though!
