Shawarma Turkey Burgers
There’s nothing quite like Shawarma. This iconic middle eastern street food is super flavorful, aromatic and completely irresistible. But if you’re like me and don’t have a rotisserie spit in your house, then you know the perils that come along with making it.
Insert this tasty Shawarma Turkey Burger recipe! Unlike the traditional shawarma, we switch it up and use Jennie-O’s individually packed seasoned turkey burgers.
These turkey burgers are great because they use no antibiotics ever! They’re also leaner than regular burgers which makes them perfect for summertime.
Once they reach an internal temperature of 165F, they’re glazed with little bit of mango chutney.
Then, the patties are then stuffed into a toasted pita with a tangy herbed feta yogurt sauce, caramelized onions and peppers and some fresh cilantro.
Last weekend, I made a whole bunch of them, wrapped them in tinfoil, and brought them to the beach for my family! Needless to say they were a total hit!
These Shawarma Turkey Burger Pitas are sweet, savory, tangy and fresh! Basically all that is good in the world!
How to Make Shawarma Turkey Burgers
To make shawarma with turkey burgers, simply sprinkle the Jennie-O patties with a little bit of smoked paprika and a dash of cumin.
Heat up your cast iron or BBQ grill and and grill away! Once they reach an internal temperature of 165F, glaze them with some mango chutney and set aside.
Next, heat up the pitas and smear the creamy herbed feta yogurt sauce on the inside of each one.
Add the glazed patties and top it with the garam masala caramelized onions, peppers and fresh cilantro. It’s just like a donner kebab except it’s completely doable at home!
