This easy creamy sriracha sauce recipe is not only my favorite dipping sauce but also an incredible sandwich spread. All you need to make this spicy sauce is 3 simple ingredients - mayo, sriracha, and smoked paprika.
Why You'll love this Homemade Sriracha Mayo Recipe
This creamy sriacha sauce is a go-to in my household.
I first released the recipe in my cookbook a few years ago after serving it for years at my family's bed and breakfast, The Black Dolphin Inn.
Not only is this sauce made with 3 simple ingredients in under 5 minutes, but it's amazing on just about anything!
From smearing it on breakfast sandwiches, to dunking sweet potato fries into it, to drizzling over crab cakes, and more, you'll love this spicy sauce just as much as we do.
Plus, you can find all of these simple ingredients at most grocery stores.
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Mayo: I recommend using Kewpie Mayo as the main ingredient because it's the most flavorful mayo. Since it's made with egg yolks, it's much richer and decadent. And If you're not a fan of real mayonnaise, you could absolutely swap it for sour cream or plain greek yogurt to make this creamy sauce. You could also make your own mayo sauce with olive oil or canola oil, egg yolks, whole eggs, salt, and vinegar (or lemon juice concentrate).
- Sriracha: Sriracha is the only popular condiment that will get you the flavor profile that makes spicy sriracha mayo the best thing since sliced bread. But if you absolutely had to use another hot sauce, I'd recommend tabasco sauce, Frank's Red Hot, Sambal or your favorite go-to homemade hot sauce recipe.
- Smoked Paprika: Smoked Paprika adds the perfect smoky undertones without being too overpowering. It's almost like my secret ingredient that makes this spicy sauce irresistable. But if you don't have any, you could swap it for fresh lime juice or lemon juice concentrate for a little bit of tang.
- Optional Add-ins: For a zesty kick, you can try adding garlic powder, green onions, cajun seasoning, lime juice, or taco seasoning.
How to make it - Detailed Instructions
Making this dipping sauce is super easy. And the trick to a good spicy mayo is all about picking a spice level that makes YOU happy!
To do this, all you need to do to make this creamy sauce is place the mayo, sriracha and smoked paprika in a small bowl.
Use a spoon or a fork and stir it up.
Let it sit for a few minutes for the flavors to meld.
Then taste it and decide if you want it spicier - if so, add more sriracha. If it's too spicy, simply add in a little bit more mayo to dial the spice down and get the perfect balance.
Serve with french fries, fish tacos, or my ultimate bagel breakfast sandwich recipe.
If not using right away, place this homemade sriracha mayo recipe in airtight container and keep in the fridge.
Although this is a relatively small batch, but you can adjust the serving size on my recipe card to make a big batch quickly and easily.
What to use it on
This delicious creamy sriracha sauce can be served as a popular condiment on so many things. Obviously, you can use it as a dipping sauce for all the fried things like Chicken Strips, Sweet Potato Fries, Air Fryer French Fries, and Tater Tots.
Or you can smear it onto Grilled Cheese and serve with Tomato Soup, on your favorite burger, on fish tacos, or drizzled over Asian slaw hot dogs and served with potato chips or grilled fresh veggies with chimichurri and lots of parmesan cheese.
