You can make Cava's Crazy Feta Dip Recipe at home with super simple ingredients. All you need is feta, onion, jalapeno and olive oil and 15 minutes.
What is Cava's Crazy Feta?
Cava's Crazy Feta Dip is one of the best things I've ever eaten. It's made with 4 simple ingredients that pack a ton of flavor. Their spicy feta recipe can be served as a dip, a schmear or even an appetizer in and of itself.
But before we start talking about how to make Cava's famous dips, let's dive into what the Cava restaurants are all about.
This mediterranean fast-casual chain is a personal favorite of mine and for good reason! They sell everything from warm pita wraps, quick pick-up mezze bowls, beautiful grain bowls, and more mediterranean staples that pack so much flavor.
Within each bowl, you can choose a number of delicious add-on dips, colorful vegetables, and other fun toppings.
Some of my favorite are obviously this crazy feta dip and this creamy white garlic sauce dip, their ridiculously delicious pita chips, and of course their famous honey harissa chicken.
Honestly I love everything they make since i'm suck a sucker for mediterranean food, but my favorite way to eat Cava's Crazy Feta Dip at home is with some air fryer crispy pita chips.
Once you get a taste of their delicious dips, you'll know exactly what I'm talking about and why you need to make this recipe at home!
Lucky this place is amazing and they share how to make most of their popular recipes on tiktok... which I really, really appreciate!
You can even buy their line of dips at Whole Foods but they're pretty pricey.
With that said, it makes it really easy to recreate these easy recipes at home.
So without further ado, let's get to it!
Ingredients & Substitutions
- Feta - When choosing a feta, I recommend going for feta bricks rather than crumbled feta. The difference is minimal but after taste-testing it, I do believe that the feta bricks have more of a creamy texture than the crumbled variety.
- Onion - I recommend using sweet onions to balance out the spiciness of the jalapeno and mimic the flavor of slow roasted onions. You could also use red onions, yellow onions, or white onions if that's what you have on hand.
- Jalapeno - Spicy Jalapenos are the backbone of this recipe. I recommend buying fresh jalapenos from the grocery store rather than using pickled or another jarred variety. These chopped jalapenos will get cooked down with the onions and olive oil to create the spicy flavor profile in this iconic dip.
- Olive Oil - You'll want to use an olive oil that's light and mild. I do not recommend using a bold extra virgin olive oil because the flavor of the oil can overpower the flavor of the dip.
- Other Optional Ingredients - When researching this copycat recipe on social media, I noticed that a lot of people added even more flavorful ingredients to make this delicious spread. But after looking at their line of dips at my nearest whole foods, I read the nutritional info and noticed that it was only made with four simple ingredients. So although this is not how the Cava restaurants do it, you could absolute add other ingredients like red pepper, roasted garlic, lemon juice, and more to take it to the next level.
How to make this Perfect Dip
Making Cava's Spicy Feta Dip recipe is a total breeze.
Chop Ingredients: To begin, you'll want to start by chopping the onions and jalapenos into small pieces. I recommend taking the seeds out since this spicy dip isn't actually that super spicy at all.
Fry the Vegetables: Once everything is chopped up, it's time to add 2 tablespoon of olive oil to a small frying pan over medium heat. Add the chopped vegetables and let this mixture cook down, stirring often, for a few minutes until the pieces start to turn slightly golden and brown and they shrink in size.
Whip the Feta: While that's cooking, it's time to whip the feta. This step is optional but I really think this is what makes the best creamy feta cheese base for this amazing dip. To make it, you'll want to break up your feta and add it to a food processor or blender with a ¼ cup of olive oil. Blend the feta up, stirring or scraping the sides every minute or so to create the creamiest texture. Once the feta is smooth, you're ready for the next step.
Mix Everything Together: At this point, you'll want to add the creamy feta dip to a large bowl. Pour the cooked vegetables on top. Stir everything up until combined.
Eat or Store: If you're not eating it right away, no worries! I recommend storing it in an airtight container in the fridge. Oh, and it's easiest to dip if served at room temperature - just FYI!
How to Serve this Legendary Dip
The best part about this crazy feta dip is that it's super versatile.
So whether you're eating it mixed into grain bowls or just served with sliced cucumber and carrot sticks - it'll still be over the top delicious.
It would even be delicious smeared onto this dill pickle grilled cheese or this avocado grilled cheese.

How to Store it
There's not a whole lot that goes into storing this recipe.
Basically you'll just want to store it in an airtight container. It can keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days. If it starts to seperate, just stir it back up to reconstitute everything.
Once you're ready to serve it, just let it set out to get to room temperature. This will ensure that it's creamy and dippable.

I am a crazy feta dip devotee and this recipe was delicious! Definitely what I need to suit my Cava cravings. I used red onion and serrano peppers since that’s what I had on hand and it still came out *chefs kiss*.
