Ingredients and Substitutions
- Olive Oil - Olive oil is my oil of choice here but you can also dry fry them in your favorite nonstick skillet.
- Halloumi - If you can't find halloumi, you can use bread cheese, queso de freir or even feta.
- Mango Chutney - I love mango chutney becuase it's so complex. If you didn't have it, try using hot honey or your favorite apricot preserves with a squirt of sriracha.
- Toasted Sesame Seeds - These just add a little bit of crunch and taste. If you can't do sesame seeds, just leave them off.
- Fresh Cilantro - If you don't have fresh cilantro, you could try parsley or basil if you like the taste.
- Fresh Mint - No mint? No problem. You can just leave it off.
How to make it
Making these little sweet and sticky halloumi bites is super easy!
Begin by heating a nonstick fry pan over medium high and add olive oil.
Swirl the olive oil around and add the chopped halloumi pieces.
Fry each piece for a few minutes on each side, flipping once it turns golden brown.
Once pieces are golden brown on the main sides, add mango chutney and gently toss everything together.
Let this mixture cook and bubble away for 1-2 minutes or until the mango chutney has thickened up and the halloumi bites are sticky.
