Gruyere Grilled Cheese

This Gruyere grilled cheese recipe is made with onion jam, salty butter and thyme. It tastes just like a french onion grilled cheese sandwich but made in only ten minutes!

Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices Sourdough
  • 2 tablespoon Onion Jam
  • 1 8 oz block Gruyere grated
  • 2 tablespoon Salted Butter
  • 2 pinches Dried Thyme

Instructions
 

  • Smear 1 tablespoon of onion jam onto 2 seperate slices of bread.
  • Divide the gruyere in half and then place each half on top of the onion jam.
  • Place the other two slices of bread on top.
  • Butter the exterior of the bread then finish with a pinch of dried thyme onto each side.
  • Place the sandwiches in a large nonstick pan or cast iron skillet heated over medium.
  • Cook for a few minutes on each side, flipping once, until both sides are golden brown and all the cheese has melted.
  • Remove from the heat, cut on a diagonal and enjoy!
