Easy Panini Recipe - Grilled Italian Sandwich with Mozzarella

This easy panini recipe is modeled after Stanley Tucci's favorite sandwich. It's an italian sandwich loaded with fresh mozzarella, pesto, prosciutto and basil.

  • Heat up your panini press over medium-high heat.
  • Meanwhile, build the sandwich. Smear pesto onto one slice of bread and top with mozzarella. Sprinkle with a pinch of salt and some fresh cracked pepper.
  • Add prosciutto, in clumps, and basil. Add a drizzle of olive oil to the inside of the top piece of bread.
  • Close up the sandwich and drizzle the outside with more olive oil and place on the panini press.
  • Cook for about 5 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melty. No need to flip since the heat is coming from both sides.
  • Remove from the heat and let the sandwich rest before serving.
