Foot-Long Asian Slaw Dogs

These foot-long Asian Slaw Dogs are one of my favorite ways to put a spin on the traditional American hot dog recipe.

Ingredients
  

For the Asian Slaw

  • 6 cups red cabbage shredded
  • 1 cup carrot shredded
  • ½ small sweet onion minced
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 lime juiced
  • 3 tablespoon rice wine vinegar
  • 1.5 tablespoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup cilantro chopped and packed
  • ¼ cup mint chopped and packed

For the Hot Dogs

  • 6 foot long hot dogs grilled such as Olympia Provisions
  • 6 foot long hot dog buns
  • ¼-1/2 cup Slaw
  • sriracha
  • kewpie mayo
  • black sesame seeds

Instructions
 

For the Asian Slaw

  • Toss red cabbage, carrots, onion, salt, and 1 teaspoon sugar together in a large bowl. Let it sit for 15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, mix together lime juice, rice wine vinegar, white sugar, and sesame oil in a bowl then toss it with the cabbage mixture.
  • Stir in cilantro and mint and season to taste with either more sugar, salt or acid.

For the Asian Hot Dogs

  • Grill hot dogs according to the directions and lightly toast the buns.
  • Place one hot dog on one bun then top with the asian slaw. Add a drizzle of kewpie mayo and sriracha and finish with a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Repeat for each hot dog. Serve immediately.
