Fig Tart with Honey Whipped Goat Cheese

This fig tart with honey whipped goat cheese is one of my favorite recipes. It’s perfect for brunch, breakfast, entertaining, appetizers and more! I love it because light and fresh yet rich and creamy. I like recommend it with balsamic glaze, basil and flaky salt. And if you’re not a truffle fan, simply leave it out!

  • 1 cup goat cheese
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoon honey
  • ½ teaspoon truffle oil or more if you like it more truffle-y

For the Fig Tart

  • 1 sheet puff pastry defrosted
  • 1 medium egg
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • honey whipped goat cheese ingredients above
  • 2 cups figs quartered
  • 1-2 tablespoon balsamic glaze
  • 6 leaves basil julienned
  • 1 pinch flaky salt

Instructions

For the Honey Whipped Goat Cheese

  • Add goat cheese, heavy cream, honey and truffle oil to a food processor or blender and blend for 1-2 minutes until light and fluffy.

For the Fig Tart

  • Preheat your oven to 400F degrees.
  • Place the thawed out puff pastry on a parchment paper lined baking sheet.
  • Use a sharp knife to score a “frame” around the perimeter of the puff pastry to create a crust/filling area. Now take a fork and poke holes in the middle of the puff pastry.
  • Add 1 egg and 1 tablespoon milk to a small bowl and whisk. Brush this mixture over the top of the puff pastry to create a shiny golden crust.
  • Bake for 12 minutes or until golden brown then remove from the oven and let it cool completely.
  • Once cooled, add the honey whipped goat cheese to the middle of the puff pastry and smooth it out.
  • Top with the fresh figs, a drizzle of balsamic glaze and fresh basil.
  • Cut into squares and finish with a sprinkle of maldon salt if you have it.
