Salted Caramel Churro French Toast with Fresh Berries

This Salted Caramel Churro French Toast is one of my most popular dishes at Black Dolphin Inn. Thick cut, old fashioned french toast is tossed in cinnamon sugar and finished with a drizzle of salted caramel (or syrup!) and topped with fresh berries. It’s easy to make yet it tastes super fancy!

Ingredients

  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup milk
  • teaspoon cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon vanilla
  • 3 tablespoon butter divided
  • 4 slices thick cut white bread
  • 2 tablespoon white sugar
  • teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2-4 tbsp salted caramel or syrup

Instructions

  • In a shallow bowl, whisk together egg, milk, cinnamon and vanilla and set aside.
  • Melt ½ tablespoon of butter in a large nonstick fry pan over medium heat.

  • Repeat this process for the remaining two slices of bread.
  • While the second batch is cooking, mix together white sugar and cinnamon and set aside.
  • Once all the french toast is cooked, toss each piece in the cinnamon and sugar.
  • Place 2 pieces on a plate and top with the remaining butter, divided into four thin slices. Top with berries and a drizzle of salted caramel or syrup.
  • Serve immediately.
