This Hawaiian BBQ is the perfect way to get a taste of the islands without leaving your home! And with Memorial Day right around the corner, I thought it would be a perfect time to share my tropical menu! And best of all, we created videos for each one of these recipes so you can watch them be made step-by-step.
For the protein, we’ll start with these insanely delicious sweet and sticky asian bbq instant pot ribs! Not only are they made in the instant pot but they’re done in under an hour! The results? Tender, fall off the bone spare ribs caramelized in a sweet and sticky sauce. Before serving, the ribs are finished with a sprinkling of cilantro and scallions for a fresh burst of herby goodness.
For the starch, we’ll be making my mom’s famous Hawaiian Macaroni Salad. To create this family classic, you’ll toss tender macaroni noodles in a mayo-based dressing with peas, cheddar cheese, and celery. It’s crunchy yet creamy and slightly sweet yet savory. In other words, it’s downright addicting!
To wash it all down, find the recipe for my sparkling island lemonade at the bottom of this post! It’s made with store bought lemonade, pineapple juice, coconut La Croix and a splash of grenadine. My Mom’s Hawaiian Macaroni Salad with Cheese and Peas is the best! My husband, who spent a lot of time in Hawaii while he was a pro surfer, always requests it. To make it, you’ll need: macaroni noodles, cheese, peas, celery, onion, mayo, relish, italian vinaigrette, hot sauce, and mustard.

Sparkling Tropical Lemonade
Lastly, you can enjoy this sparkling island lemonade to wash it all down! To make this fresh island inspired lemonade, mix together store bought lemonade with fresh pineapple juice, coconut La Croix, and a splash of grenadine. The results will be bright and fruity and effervescent! And if you’d like to make it alcoholic, you can add a shot of rum, gin or tequila to each glass!

Sparkling Tropical Lemonade
- 3 cups lemonade
- 2 cups pineapple juice
- 3 coconut la croix
- 2 limes sliced for garnish
- Pour lemonade, pineapple juice, and la croix, and sliced limes into a pitcher. Before serving, add ice to cups, top with sparkling island lemonade and and add a splash of grenadine on top.
